From old to updated vintage. See how and why I chose to keep the original look and feel of my den.

The original office had a popcorn ceiling, original built in bookcase and floor to ceiling wood panels. Honestly, we didn't want to change anything accept smooth out the ceiling. We wanted to keep the charm of the house and thought the wood paneling, which is a lot!!! created character and was something your weren't going to find in many other homes (maybe for good reason :) At least we got a break from painting! Just a little wipe down, resurfacing the ceiling and floor refinishing.
To keep the vintage feel, I dug up my moms antique dial-phone, searched the web for a nice executive desk and added a few pictures. I found a desk through Craigslist and the owner was super chill, he ended up giving us the desk for free. He told us the history of the desk and how it belonged to his father, who was an attorney in Missouri. Apparently he used the desk until he stopped practicing, which was into his 90's! He also said the desk brought great fortune and promise to his family and was sure that same promise would be bestowed upon the next family. Hearing those words was priceless. My interaction with him reminded me that the world still has it's fair share of good people.
