Try searching woman-cave, ma'am cave, lady lounge, etc. online....not many results:( Hopefully this post can help shine some light on these "new" terms :) What's your name?!?

Since my husband has his own man-cave, it was only right that I had my own similar place to go to and unwind. Granted he told me the whole house was my ma'am-cave, which I can't argue with, I still wanted my own space :) Because I still coach and play sports, I figured it would be a good idea to have a room where I can store my belongings and crash once in a while. The room I elected as my woman-cave, was in fairly decent shape, with the exception of the floors. All I needed was a fresh coat of paint and furniture.

To start, I wanted to base the room on the colleges I attended (GW, Syracuse and Hopkins). What did they all have in common??? The color BLUE! I swear I didn't choose those schools based on the color. I first started with a light cream color for the main walls, and blue accent wall. I also wanted to do something completely different by stenciling one of the colleges on the wall. Surprisingly, it came out really well. All I used was painters tape and a cool metallic paint I picked up on the clearance rack at Home Depot.

For the furniture, I looked on Craigslist, my neighborhood listerv and used existing pieces I had stored away. The desk I found was from my neighborhood listerv. Great find since the owners wanted nothing for it! The bed is a futon I found on Craigslist. Since I didn't want to go traditional and wanted something functional, I figured a futon was a good idea and for $10, I couldn't resist. To help showcase the futon, I used a headboard I purchased a few years ago from the clearance section at Arhous. Most of the artwork were pieces I already had. The painting is my favorite piece, and was purchased at the beach a while back. The last piece is the tv we got as a hand-me-down from my husbands brother. It's a bit large for the space, but hey it works and was free.

Small Tips:

Try searching your neighborhood listerserv for furniture. You can find some great pieces for for free or very little
